Congratulations Mitch! One million steps is quite an achievement!
We spent the afternoon on Saturday celebrating with Mitch’s family and friends. CHCH TV sent a reporter over to cover the story. You can watch that here.
For readers that don’t know Mitch, here is a little background:
Mitchell was born with an undiagnosed rare genetic disorder. “We have had genetic testing that always comes back inconclusive because he doesn’t fit a previously diagnosed disorder,” shares Mitch’s dad Marc. As a result, “He needs supportive devices to be able to make it through the world.” After an overwhelmingly successful fundraiser, Mitch got his Trexo. Exploring his environment in a way he never could before has allowed Mitch to be a participant in his own life. He uses the Trexo at home, at school and even at the cottage. This summer, Mitch completed his first triathlon, using his Trexo, an adaptable bike and the help of his Dad for the swimming.
A great singer played music, as kids played and adults chatted. Everyone was excited for the big moment when Mitch walked through the Arch and took his millionth step!
Everyone had a great time and everyone was so proud of Mitch. I know he has me beat, he takes more steps daily than I do. I am going to challenge myself to increase that!
Huge thank you to Marc and Kelley, Mitch’s parents for allowing us to crash their party and join in the celebration.
