Robotics Engineer (Software)




































Exoskeleton Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities

The robotics engineer will work primarily on software development in the following areas

  • ROS-based control software
  • Embedded real-time control software for brushless motors
  • Embedded real-time firmware
  • General scripting

In addition to working primarily on robotics software, the candidate will have opportunities to work on the mechanical design, machining, electrical design and industrial design.

Required Skills

  • Experience writing software in C/C++
  • Experience with a scripting language (preferably Python)
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded software and concurrency
  • Strong debugging skills in both embedded and non-embedded systems
  • Strong knowledge of control systems

Bonus Skills

  • ROS
  • OROCOS
  • Web application development
  • Experience with AWS services and tools

Job Responsibilities

The engineer will work primarily on mechanical design of a new powered exoskeleton which involves a new series elastic actuator, spring systems and clamps.

  • Working with different gears systems (harmonic, planetary)
  • Designing electromechanical systems
  • Kinematic design knowledge (cams, four bar linkages)

In addition to working primarily on mechanical design, the candidate will have opportunities to work on the electrical design and industrial design.

Required Skills

  • Experience designing and building geared motor systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Solidworks
  • Strong FEA analysis skills preferably in Solidworks.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in exoskeletons required.

Bonus Skills

  • Strong machining skills
  • Experience designing Series Elastic Actuators
  • Experience with a scripting language (preferably python)
